This month, we are featuring Tyler Binkley g06. Shortly after graduating from TUFW in 2006, Tyler became very involved in commercial real estate. After spending fifteen years growing his book of business, networking, and learning from other companies’ leadership, Tyler decided to move on to his own project by founding Allied Commercial Real Estate.
At Allied Commercial, Tyler and his team assist with acquisitions, dispositions, and leasing in office, medical, retail, industrial, and investment real estate. Tyler says that he wants Allied Commercial to be a personalized boutique that will grow into a company that services the whole spectrum of commercial real estate with brokerage, property, and asset management and development. Allied Commercial is an affiliate company with Michael Kinder and Sons (MKS) – one of the largest commercial construction managers in northeast Indiana. Dr. Daryl Yost h96 previously worked for MKS, and they have constructed numerous buildings in the Fort Wayne area as well as on the Taylor campus in Upland. Additionally, Steve Shaffer g82 now works for MKS in business development, specializing in churches and non-profit organizations.
At the core of Allied’s business is a focus on relationships. “We want to please our clients with long-term relationships in mind,” Tyler said. The business strives to build a new foundation with a new generation of partners and brokers. Allied Commercial also operates its business differently than other businesses. Instead of focusing on individuals, Tyler says that their focus is more on teams. He believes that by the entire team working together, the benefit the clients receive will greatly increase. This all factors into the cornerstones of Allied Commercial: “We build long-term relationships, and focus on serving the client’s best interest.”
Tyler appreciates his time at TUFW and what he learned on the Fort Wayne campus. He says that TUFW taught him how to apply servanthood and Christian values to business and careers, and this has shaped his company and services. Throughout his time in commercial real estate, Tyler has been able to represent ministries, non-profits, and community outreach organizations with commercial real estate brokerage and as a board and committee member for several organizations. This work has been very fulfilling for Tyler, and he credits his student experiences at TUFW (viz. intramural director under Bud Hamilton, classroom instruction under Dr. Doug Barcalow, and mission trips with Richard Baxter) as a major driving force for his deep desire to help Christian ministries via his business.
